Concrete Lintels

Stressline prestressed concrete lintels are synonymous with UK structural building products. They are cost effective and high performing, and CE marked meaning they are subject to the most stringent tests under the Constructions Product Regulation (CPR). We have been making concrete lintels over 50 years and continue to produce them today, right here in our Leicestershire-based factory.

All of our concrete lintels are prestressed meaning they have heightened strength by way of steel wires, which have been set to high tension running through the middle of the lintel. We manufacture three basic types of concrete lintels – the standard prestressed lintel, fair faced lintel and high strength lintel.

In addition to lintels, we also manufacture padstones, including the new L-shaped padstone.

Standard

Available in sizes from 65x100mm up to 215x140mm, our standard prestressed concrete lintels are the most cost-effective option for use with load bearing walls.

APPLICATION
Designed to support:
• Masonry loads
• Uniformly distributed timber floor loads
• Uniformly distributed roof loads

FAQs

Stressline prestressed concrete lintels are designed with a concrete strength of 50 N/mm² or 60 N/mm² and utilizing strands to BS 5896:2012. Lintels are
manufactured to BS EN 845-2:2003, tested to BS EN846-9:2000, and loadings assessed as per BS 5977-1:1981. Materials used in the making of Stressline
prestressed concrete lintels comply with BS EN 206-1:2000 and BS 8500.
The standard lead time is 3-5 working days for most areas of the UK. Some Fair Faced and High Strength Lintels have longer lead times. Check with our sales team first.
Whilst we can make recommendations for our prestressed concrete lintels, please note that this does not discharge the installer from the responsibility of ensuring the bearing pressures of the masonry are not exceeded. Please contact our technical team for more advice on installation.

The lintel should be bedded on mortar and levelled both along the lintel and across its width. Full bricks, blocks or padstones should be used as bedding areas. Do not bear lintels onto cut blocks.

Recommended minimum bearings are 100mm both ends in structural openings up to 1000mm, 150mm both ends in structural openings over 1000mm.

All of our products are delivered on flat bed articulated or rigid lorries, with the option of either self offload or crane offload. Steel lintels can be packaged in stock packs or consignment loads.
When specifying concrete lintels you are invited to contact our specification team who will be more than happy to assist in the specification.

The NBS reference of F30 Accessories and sundry items for brick, block and stone walling applies for prestressed concrete lintels. Our lintels are manufactured to the British Standard BS EN 845-2.

Our prestressed lintels can also be specified from NBS reference F31 Precast concrete sills, lintels, copings and features as our lintels comply with BS EN 206-1 and BS 8500.

Stressline prestressed concrete lintels are designed with a concrete strength of 50 N/mm2 and utilising strands to BS 5896:2012. Lintels are manufactured to BS EN 845-2:2003 (845-2:2013+A1:2016 for lintels over 4.5m), tested to BS EN 846-9:2000, and loadings assessed as per BS 5977-1. Materials used in making prestressed lintels comply with BS EN 206-1:2000 and BS 8500.

Lintels offer a minimum of 1/2 hour fire resistance.

Lintels are subject to the most stringent tests under the Constructions Products Regulation (CPR). This means that in order to obtain the CE marking, they have had to be independently tested and verified.

The loading figures published in the load span tables represent the Uniform Distributed Serviceable Load (UDL) in kN/m.

Lintels lengths shown greyed out within the load span table are available in longer lengths than the maximum clear span would normally allow.

With the exception of the 140mm x 65mm and 215mm x 65mm, the standard concrete lintels are reversible, so that can suit different wall constructions. For both high strength and fair faced the lintels are marked with ‘TOP’, so they must be used in the correct orientation.
